Voice or Chatter? Using Structuration Framework Towards a Theory of ICT mediated Citizen Engagement

Type of resource:
Project Frameworks

IT for Change will be spearheading a research study into  ICT mediated citizen engagement and  their impact on governance structures and processes. With support from the Institute of Development Studies ( IDS), and the Making All Voices Count (MAVC) consortium, IT for Change will  work with independent and institutional collaborators from across the globe to lead a multi-country case study analysis  to better understand the ways in which ICT mediated engagement can be empowering for the citizen  and transformative for the outcomes of governance.

This  ten month research study will contribute macro-level analytical insights from specific micro-level initiatives. Offering a comprehensive analytical framework, the study will adopt interpretive approaches to explain the shifting terrain of governance in these times of flux, drawing attention to policy issues and governance practices that matter for meaningful citizen engagement.
