This is great work! You are absolutely correct that technology needs to be used to teach content just like, or now even in place of, textbooks. I hope we can soon provide with more teacher training materials to support your work.

Krittika,
Thanks, for me too the highlight was the Math teacher taking over the podium and all the participants completely involved in the discussion while we (the organisers) stepped aside.

When we went post the workshop to the GMPS school in Weavers colony, we were received with great enthusiasm. After installing Ubuntu and the educational tools the two teachers from the workshop were very eager to learn the tools and made sure they had permission from the headmistress to use the computer after school. The enthusiasm is high and I feel very positive that these teachers will participate with a little bit of nudging from our side.

What came out starkly in the workshop was the lack of awareness of topics at a systemic level. Most of the teachers were unaware or barely knew about the National Curriculum Framework and the recently passed Right to Education Bill. We hope to bring about this change in teachers, to enable them to think beyond the classroom and it is going to be a long and new road we would be taking together!

I just read this article in TeacherPlus magazine, which I thought very relevant and have responded there and leave you with that....
