'Making Women's Voices and Votes Count' is a two-year project (2013-2014) that aimed at the capacity-building of elected women representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions, and strengthening the linkages between elected women and women's collectives, for building a vibrant women's political constituency at the grassroots, and gendering local governance structures, processes and agendas. The partnering organisations in this project supported by UN Women and the National Mission for the Empowerment of Women were: Prakriye field centre of IT for Change in Mysore (Karnataka), Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS) in Kutch (Gujarat) and Area Networking and Development Initiatives (ANANDI) in Bhavnagar (Gujarat).
This report is a detailed process documentation of this 2.5 year-long journey at the Mysore site. It brings together the key insights, learnings and reflections from the team members of IT for Change and Prakriye, on the project's theory of change, based on their field praxis.
