IT for Change (ITfC), in partnership with Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN) and the Centre for Public Policy, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (CPP, IIM B) organized a two day South Asian seminar titled "Gender Perspectives on the Information Society - South Asia Pre-WSIS Seminar 2005". The seminar was held in Bangalore on the 18th and 19th of April 2005 and was supported by UNIFEM and the APDIP program of UNDP.
The outcomes of the seminar as well as its specific outputs will be tied into a sustained strategy for feminist engagement with the information society debate in general, and the WSIS processes in particular. On the one side, the seminar and its follow-up will aim to take vital areas of concern to the grassroots and to feminists, and on the other, it will attempt to plug feminist perspectives, advocacy and activity in these areas into global processes, with special focus on the forthcoming Tunis phase of the WSIS. |
