IT for Change is pleased to invite applications to attend a two-day online institute on ‘Feminist Perspectives on Digital Economy and Society’.

This institute will bring together prominent national and international voices to share critical feminist insights, grapple with the debates that animate this field, and contribute to perspective and knowledge building of participants. Sessions will be conducted by subject experts, experienced activists and practitioners, and renowned academicians, and will draw upon and advance the conversation in the following broad areas:

  1. The platform economy and macroeconomic shifts: digitalization and labor market trends; gender dynamics of digital labor platforms and new supply chains; gender politics of e-commerce.
  2. Voice and claims-making in a platformized society: identity, participation and politics of exclusion in the digitalized public sphere; gendered citizenship in platform governance.
  3. Feminist agendas for policy in the digital economy and society: gender, worker rights and labor regulation; feminist data governance frameworks; women’s human rights and multilateral policy shifts.

Who can apply to attend: Research scholars, feminist activists, practitioners, journalists, students and professionals from across the globe who are interested in the subject.

What to expect: This is an exciting opportunity for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of this emerging domain from leading experts and seasoned development practitioners. The institute will also create space for nuanced conversations on this critical domain by delving into nascent debates and contentious issues at national and international policy fora.

To apply: Please fill out this form. A selection committee will shortlist participants for the institute. Shortlisted participants will be intimated via email by September 21, 2021.

Applications are open until September 15, 2021.

Detailed schedule for the institute: Will be announced by August 31, 2021.

This institute is supported by the European Commission and the Fair, Green and Global (FGG) Alliance.
