Europeans: Anne Pepin, director if GenderNet in the EU ask for your support signing the petition below.
Here is the core of the issue: The Scoping Paper for further EU funding for gender equality subsumes institutional changes for gender equality under the more general heading of RRI- Responsible Research and Innovation. The petition asks that the EC continue independent calls for proposals for gender specific structural change projects as well as other gender equality in research and innovation topics.
Here is the original message:
Dear GENDER-NET network,
In link with the concerns I raised at our General Assembly last Monday regarding the draft H2020 SwafS 2018-2020 scoping paper that has recently been circulated, here is a petition that was just opened:
https://www.change.org/p/european-commission-keep-funding-research-action-on-gender-equality-in-science-in-horizon-2020?recruiter=608386910&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=share_email_responsive
It has just been circulated among genderSTE members and through EPWS, among others.
If you agree with it, you can sign it, and forward to other potentially interested people, as the number of signatures will have an importance.
It is actually rather urgent matter, as the European Commission is meeting tomorrow to discuss this topic.
And it does of course not prevent us from advancing the topic within our countries' respective official groups in charge of giving input to the Commission on the scoping paper and upcoming draft work programme.
To my knowledge, the Strategic Committee is scheduled to meet on October 14th to adopt a final SwafS 2018-2020 scoping paper.
Best regards,
Anne Pépin, Ph.D.
