To strengthen India’s data protection laws, the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s (JPC) Report on the Personal Data Protection Bill (2019) recommended widening the scope of the bill to include aspects of non-personal data (NPD), including anonymized personal data. This move is believed to be fraught with many lacunas and may lead to unintended adverse consequences for stakeholders. In this context, CUTS International will be hosting a panel discussion on “Optimal Governance of NPD 2.0.” on 12 July 2022.
Parminder Jeet Singh has been invited to share his thoughts. The discussion will be organized at 14:00 IST.
