Anita Gurumurthy participated in the UNDP’s Human Development Report Office (HDRO) Research Seminar on 7 May 2024.

Her talk focused on the data divide, arguing why it is critical in the understanding of development from a capabilities approach. Global discourses on data often emphasize technicalized conceptions of trust and security. Anita argued that the need of the hour is to move towards frameworks of data equity for an innovation paradigm that is rooted in ideas of capabilities and human agency. What would this look like? How should policies untangle this question nationally and globally? Anita explored these questions.
