Anita Gurumurthy will be part of a panel on ' Bringing Women Online: Creating Coalitions for Safe Connectivity in South Asia' in the Women's Safety Symposium for South and Southeast Asia being held on 6th and 7th October.
Overview from organizer: At Facebook, we are committed to ensuring women feel safe on our platforms. We believe that women should have equal access to all of the economic opportunity, education, and social connection that the Internet provides, and we want to do all we can to make women on our platforms feel safe. We take a comprehensive approach to making our platform a safer place for women, including writing clear policies, engaging with experts, and developing cutting-edge technology to help prevent abuse from happening in the first place. In this context, we are organising a two day virtual Women's Safety Symposium for South and Southeast Asia on 6 and 7 of October. This symposium will bring together policymakers, activists and civil society leaders to discuss the latest issues, trends, developments, and solutions for women’s safety.
