Presentation made by Gurumurthy Kasinathan at NCERT in a workshop for Education Secretaries, on guidelines for ICT@School program - October 2011

ITfC made a presentation to the Secretaries of Education from different state governments. The presentation explains the need to move from 'first generation programs' where students only learn word, notepad, paint etc, through vendor faculty, bypassing teachers, to "second generation programs" - where teachers use software tools to create digital learning resources, and ICTs are used to achieve specific educational aims. While most programs in India have belonged to the first generation and have failed, there are a few examples for 'second generation' programs, such as the Kerala IT @ Schools, USRN programs etc.
