IT for Change, in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), will be organizing a roundtable titled "Reclaiming a Feminist Future of Work in the AI Economy: An Interrogation of Global Digital Capitalism" at the 34th International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) Annual Conference. The conference will be held at Universidad Icesi in Cali, Colombia, from 8 to 11 July 2026.

The gendered and racialized consequences of AI's expansion are profound - AI systems are built on precarious and invisible labor, and when deployed in areas like welfare, labor markets, agriculture, and healthcare, they reproduce and amplify gendered, racial, and class biases. Through this roundtable, speakers will probe pertinent pathways towards a feminist AI economy, including how data can be recognized as a collective resource and how workers can gain collective bargaining power over AI design and governance.
