Comic adaptation of the research paper "There's No Ghost in the Machine"

In June 2026, our Communications Associate, Harikrishnan and Associate - Research and Policy Engagement, Saloni Mishra, contributed a comic adaptation of "There's No Ghost in the Machine" to Net Chakra 3.0: 30 Years of the Internet in India, an edited volume curated by the Digital Empowerment Foundation to mark 30 years of the internet in India, and published by the Centre for Development Policy and Practice.

"There's No Ghost in the Machine! A Field Study of Platform Workers' Experiences of Algorithmic Management in India" is a research study conducted by the Centre for Labour Studies, National Law School of India University, and IT for Change, supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. The study examines how algorithmic management shapes platform work in India — through targets, ratings, surveillance, and data-driven control — and the lived realities of workers navigating these systems.

By translating this research into comic form, Harikrishnan and Saloni hope to make the study's findings more accessible to a wider audience.
