Aparna Kalley, Head - Gender and Digital Empowerment, and Asha Y, Program Associate - Education, represented IT for Change at the Commonwealth of Learning Women in STEM (WiSE) Regional Workshop on Diverse Pathways to Enhance Women's Presence in STEM, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 23–26 June 2026. Aparna presented IT for Change's pilot work on STEM education for girls in underserved communities. Asha served as rapporteur for Session 3 on formal systems and small actions, documenting key lessons and barriers. Both team members actively contributed to cross-country learning and committed to the Community of Practice. The key takeaway from the workshop was the opportunity to share our work on technology for equity – while learning from partners across 6 countries.
The workshop brought together partners from India, Pakistan, Uganda, Malaysia, Brunei, and The Gambia to share knowledge, pilot experiences, and co-create solutions for increasing women's participation in STEM education and training.
