Abhineet Nayyar provided the opening provocations for the roundtable on 'Community-Centred Stewardship' at the two-day workshop 'Convening the Digital Commons' on 9 March 2026 in New Delhi. His inputs largely focused on breaking down the multiple meanings of community stewardship, drawing on the incentives and interests of the different communities involved — developers, users, beneficiaries and others. This included examining the scope of their stewardship — that is, whether they can only control the end use, or whether they have say on whether a technological solution is needed in the first place, and of what kind. The workshop was organised by Arghyam, CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), CoRE Stack, Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
