Re-envisioning Digital Education: The Pandemic’s Fallout and the Future of Inclusive Education

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, what is the extent of the devastation caused to our education systems, and what challenges are educational institutions across the world now facing? This session will train a closer eye on how current models of digital education are exacerbating problems of inequality and access, and what routes exist for envisioning a genuinely transformative model for digital education.

How can digital infrastructures address gender inequalities through their design and implementation in governance systems and welfare delivery? This session will take a look at the key principles needed to make digital and data systems gender responsive, as well as the contextual realities of digitizing governance and welfare for women in the Global South.

Dismantling the Neoliberalism of the Gender Digital Divide
Panel Discussion hosted by Media Matters for Democracy

Has the spread and adoption of ICTs exacerbated existing inequalities, rather than lessening the digital divide? This session will focus on how "bridging the digital divide" has become a trope that reifies the neoliberal logic of global development efforts, and will highlight the importance of feminist standpoints in meaningfully engaging with issues of gendered access to technology.

Workers of The World Unite: Collective Bargaining on Data Rights

This session will explore how collective mechanisms and bargaining tools, such as trusts, cooperatives, and unions, can be used to advance greater transparency, accountability, and protection for workers' data rights.

Track My Period, Not My Data! Making Femtech Accountable
Strategy Session hosted by IT for Change and DAWN

Within the global circuits of surveillance capitalism, whose data is collected by whom and for what, and how does this impact user privacy and autonomy? This session will examine the data practices of menstrual tracking apps through voices from feminist and digital rights organizations in the Global South, and explore how such technologies can instead be used to strengthen sexual and reproductive health rights.
