Parminder Jeet Singh spoke at a virtual panel discussion titled 'Public Square or Walled Garden? A Conversation on India's New Internet Regulations', hosted by the Centre for Communication Governance, NLU, Delhi.

The session reflected on the recently notified Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The discussants addressed the need for fresh regulation to be framed to appropriately regulate internet platforms, social media, and messaging services, considering their significant role in society. However, they also commented on the fact that such regulation must be in consonance with fundamental rights like the rights to free speech, privacy, and to freely conduct business and profession online.
