Parminder Jeet Singh has been invited to participate in a webinar being organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as part of its ‘Commercial Determinants of Health’ webinar series on 16 December at 7.30 PM IST.
This is the third webinar being conducted as part of the series, and it will explore the impact of the digital and commercial determinants of health on health and health equity, including the role of Big Tech in both digital health and virtual spaces, the specific challenges arising in regulating marketing and tackling misinformation, and the importance of greater health and digital literacy. It will explore how to govern the commercial determinants of health in a fast-moving, global, and increasingly digital environment.
The webinar will begin with a keynote presentation by Sandro Galea, Dean and Robert A. Knox Professor, Boston University, USA, followed by a roundtable discussion.
Besides Parminder, Nerima Were, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programmes, KELIN, Kenya; Mimi Tatlow-Golden, Co-Director, Centre for Children and Young People’s Wellbeing, United Kingdom; Neville Calleja, Director, Department of Health Information & Research, Ministry for Health, Malta; and Birgit Kainz-Labbé, Coordinator, Civic Space Unit, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will participate in the discussion.
