The General Assembly endorsed resolution A/70/125 on December 16, 2015, calling for a high-level meeting in 2025 to comprehensively review the progress of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) known as WSIS+20 Review. WSIS envisions a "people-centered, inclusive, and development-oriented information society" utilizing ICT for sustainable growth. The rapid technological changes since 2005 have significantly altered today's information society, yet the WSIS vision remains relevant.

On 10 October, 2023, our Executive Director, Anita Gurumurthy participated in a hybrid conversation on the subject. The forum's objective was to facilitate detailed discussions among diverse stakeholders, including UN bodies, governments, private sectors, civil society, and ICT communities. These discussions will contribute significantly to the CSTD secretariat’s report, vital for the ECOSOC-directed discussions on WSIS+20 Review.

Additionally, Anita participated in CSTD's first open consultation at the event. Read Anita's inputs to the discussion here.
