Asia Centre in partnership with IDRC

Malavika Rajkumar took part in the Shrinking Civic Space in Asia conference organized by the Asia Centre in partnership with IDRC. As part of the conference, Malavika took part in a panel discussion on ‘Information Integrity and the Digital Public Sphere in Asia’ on 23 August 2024.

As research continues to identify the use of misinformation and disinformation campaigns to influence public behavior in elections, public health issues, gender-based violence, and nearly every arena of life, the research agenda on information integrity concerns needs new breakthroughs. Against this backdrop, this panel brought together insights from researchers and practitioners to reflect on the research priorities for an equitable digital public sphere and information integrity in the region.

The insights from the panelists will be used to outline a research agenda to strengthen the integrity of information and foster a more informed and resilient society in the face of the ever-expanding digital public sphere.

Besides Malavika, Rossine Fallorina of Sigla Research Center, Wathshlah Naidu of Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), and Kundan Mishra of International Development and Research Centre (IDRC) took part in the discussion.
