Anita Gurumurthy participated in a session at the Summit of the Future titled, ‘Inequalities and Leave No One Behind,’ on 22 September 2024 in New York. The session was part of the Global People’s Assembly 2024 and was organized by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10 focuses on reducing inequalities, including those based on income, age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, and other statuses, both within and among countries. Despite efforts, global disparities remain alarming.

Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent (CDWD), over 260 million people globally, are among the most marginalized, often living in conditions akin to slavery. Similarly, LGBTI populations face criminalization, violence, and discrimination due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.

This session highlighted personal stories of suffering due to inequality and exclusion, as speakers shared experiences and best practices to inspire a vision of equality and inclusion for all in achieving SDG 10.
