Nandini Chami was invited as a resource person for the Digital Rights- Asia Pacific (DRAPAC) Series webinar at EngageMedia on “Digital Labor in the Philippines and Asia-Pacific,” held on March 20, 2025. The webinar brought together labor advocates, digital rights organizations, and policy experts to address the growing precarity faced by gig workers employed by digital platforms. Co-organized by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA), and Computer Professionals’ Union (CPU), the webinar focused on the challenges of algorithmic management, the impact of AI on job security, and the lack of protections and benefits for gig workers across the Asia-Pacific.

With recent cases in the Philippines highlighting the dismissal of workers for protesting unfair labor practices, the discussion explored how digital platforms can ensure accountability and fair labor standards, and how labor laws in the region must evolve to safeguard workers' rights. The event amplified the voices of labor groups calling for private sector accountability and regulatory reform while fostering regional solidarity and collective advocacy for a just and inclusive digital economy.
