Our Lead-Policy and Engagement, Sadhana Sanjay, represented IT for Change at a three-day Global Anti-Monopoly Convening hosted by the Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations (SOMO) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This three-day conference took place from 25 to 27 March 2025, and brought together organizations from Europe, the US, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and India to share experiences and chart paths forward.

Sadhana also represented us in a network meeting of the Digital Merger Watch, a newly launched network of CSOs tracking and monitoring digital mergers. She co-chaired the network meeting of the Break Open Big Tech working group as well. The convening examined the concentration of power, capital, and infrastructure in the digital economy in the hands of Big Tech firms, and the impact of this corporate power on our democracies and societies.

It further created a crucial space to share cross-jurisdictional learnings and strategies to confront monopoly power in different countries. Civil society actors are central to this effort and must take the lead in advocating for a new approach, putting forward a vision of the digital economy that prioritizes the needs of workers and communities and serves the public interest.
