UN Solution Exchange - Karnataka Community and Public Software Centre, IT for Change are organising 'Capacity Building Workshop for Knowledge Management and Knowledge Networking' on 17, 18 and 19 January, 2011 in VLEAD, Mysore.
The workshops aim at helping institutions learn Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) applications. A CD containing software applications taught in the workshops, including operating system, office suite, web browsers, image, audio editors etc. will be distributed to all participants, since FOSS applications are publicly owned and hence freely shareable and customisable.The aim is to popularise the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) within the development sector. ICTs can be used to facilitate day to day work and enable easier access to information, share knowledge amongst development practitioners and build networks. These workshops are a part of the larger initiative of the Public Software Centre to disseminate the use of 'public software'.
