Our Director and Lead - Public EdTech Gurumurthy Kasinathan spoke at the Cooperatives Expo 2025 in Kerala on April 29, addressing the topic ‘New Avenues for the Cooperative Sector in the Digital Era’. He highlighted the need for teachers to build Communities of Practice on cooperative digital platforms. Given Kerala’s strong digital infrastructure in school education and high teacher agency owing to the quality of teacher professional development programs, it is well positioned to lead the development of Platform Cooperatives – built on Free and Open Source Software and hosting Open Educational Resources. With near-zero replication costs, such platforms could be scaled across states, forming Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for education — a potential global model, much like UPI today.
