Our Digital Futures Fest: Celebrating 25 Years of IT for Change

IT for Change is celebrating a critical milestone: 25 years of imagining and building a just and equitable digital world.

From feminist engagements with the digital economy to pioneering work on technology in education, community informatics, and global policy advocacy, IT for Change’s work has consistently challenged dominant digital paradigms while advancing people-centered alternatives rooted in equity and democratic participation.

To mark this milestone, IT for Change is organizing ‘Our Digital Futures Fest which brings together a special line-up of events spanning 25–31 October 2025 in Bengaluru. The Fest opens on 25 October 2025 at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) with a public lecture by Dr. Shekhar Seshadri that kicks off the celebrations. The main programming follows on 30 October –1 November 2025 at the Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) with panel discussions, film screenings, roundtables, and exhibitions that convene practitioners, researchers, policymakers, technologists, and artists.

This roundtable, co-convened by IT for Change and Antara Advisory, will bring together 20 participants — scholars, practitioners, policymakers, technologists, and philanthropists — for a dialogue on effecting gender-transformative change in a world being reshaped by digitalization. The discussion will touch upon what bridging the gender digital divide truly means, how macro-social contexts can be connected with hyper-local realities, where emerging opportunities for shared strategies lie, and what levers can be activated for tactical action.

Reimagining Realities:  A discussion on the film ‘Humans in the Loop’

This conversation on the acclaimed film ‘Humans in the Loop’, organized by IT for Change and Antara Advisory, brings together the film’s Director, Aranya Sahay and renowned feminist scholar Prof. Usha Raman, University of Hyderabad and co-founder of FemLab, to reflect on questions of AI, gender, and work, and to explore how storytelling can open new perspectives on digital futures.

Towards Regenerative AI: Frames for Inclusive, Indigenous, and Intentional Innovation

This two-day global dialogue is an official Pre-Summit Event of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, convened by IT for Change in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and supported by the European Commission. It brings together around 50 researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from India, the EU, and beyond to chart pathways for regenerative AI grounded in inclusivity, indigenous knowledge, and intentional design.
